Contracting Flipboard

Flipboard can quickly become the distributing model of choice. Consider its already great UI, and connectivity with Facebook, Twitter, Google Reader and RSS.

Content creation is already outsourced, why not create an open marketplace for users to view aggregated content previews and pay per article, or per subscription?

Taking it a step further, adding Instapaper and Readability integration, or a similar model can allow users to set a flat denomination for donation, which we can then offer to independent bloggers for exceptionally well written posts.

Purchasing articles a-la-carte would be a new model whose success is dependent on price, iTunes fees, Flipboards own take away, and the actual worth of the content. Hence the importance of providing an open view of who exactly in my social graph recommends I read it. After all, a single thumbs up from a trusted source is more meaningful than some aggregated anonymous number of likes or dislikes.

Taking into account Fortune’s recent test to promote an article via paid subscription, iPad app, and now Kindle single suggests a-la-carte works.

We just need more distribution centers like Flipboard, to make it easier to find, preview and purchase relevant content.
